Management Accountant – Lina Stores
Bring the numbers behind one of London's most loved Italian food brands to life.
Lina Stores has been a love letter to Italy since 1944 – a Soho deli that grew into a multi-channel Italian hospitality and retail business spanning restaurants, delis, bars, an online pasta shop, and a growing international family.
We are hiring a Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Soho – a technically strong, commercially curious finance professional ready to own month-end, partner with Operations, and help shape the financial story of a brand in serious growth mode.
Who we are
Lina Stores started life as a tiny Soho deli in 1944. Eighty years on, we are still rooted in Soho, but our world is bigger: restaurants, delis, bars, an online pasta shop, retail partners, and international sites – all carrying the same green-awning warmth and uncompromising standards.
Lina Stores is loved because it is real. We make our own pasta, we work with our growers, we know our regulars by name. Behind that is a Finance team keeping every site commercially sharp – and that is where you would sit.
The opportunity
A brilliant seat for a qualified or part-qualified Management Accountant who wants to do more than close the books. You will own month-end for designated Lina Stores entities, produce a management accounts pack decision-makers actually use, and business partner with General Managers and Heads of Department across the estate – working shoulder-to-shoulder with the Group Financial Controller on budgeting, reforecasting, new site openings, and the financial controls that protect a fast-growing hospitality business.
What we stand for
- Celebrating Italy – Heritage, Authenticity, Quality
- With Hospitality at Heart – Generosity, Empathy, Community
- We Grow with Purpose – Passion, Opportunity, Responsibility
A day in the life
- Own the month-end close for designated Lina Stores entities – journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations – to a tight reporting timetable.
- Produce the monthly management accounts pack – P&L, balance sheet, and KPI commentary – at site, brand, and consolidated level, with clear variance analysis against budget and prior year.
- Business partner with Heads of Department, General Managers, and Operations leaders, translating numbers into commercial insight that drives decision-making.
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles, building robust, bottom-up plans aligned to commercial strategy.
- Monitor and challenge key hospitality KPIs – GP margins, labour cost percentage, controllable costs, EBITDA, and site profitability – flagging risks and opportunities early.
- Partner with Operations on labour and rota efficiency, using Fourth data to interrogate productivity, scheduling, and wage cost performance.
- Safeguard financial controls and balance sheet integrity, ensuring reconciliations are completed on time and anomalies resolved.
- Prepare cashflow forecasts and working capital analysis to support liquidity planning.
- Support new site openings and pre-opening budgets, modelling the realities of opening a Lina Stores location.
- Track capital expenditure across the estate against budget.
- Support the year-end audit, preparing schedules and partnering with external auditors.
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and reporting as Lina Stores continues to grow.
What you bring
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a strong foundation in management accounting and month-end close.
- Proven experience producing management accounts – ideally within hospitality, retail, or multi-site operations.
- Strong technical accounting skills: journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and a solid grasp of UK GAAP.
- Commercial mindset – you don't just report the numbers, you interrogate them and translate them into insight non-finance colleagues can act on.
- Advanced Excel; exposure to Fourth, Sage, Xero, or NetSuite is an advantage.
- Experience business partnering Operations – comfortable on the floor of a restaurant as well as in a spreadsheet.
- Highly organised, deadline-driven, and rigorous on detail.
- A collaborative team player who lives our values of generosity, empathy, and community.
- Right to Work in the UK (essential).
What we offer
Aside from a salary of £45,000 per annum we provide:
- 28 days' holiday (including bank holidays), increasing with service.
- Staff discount across all Lina Stores restaurants, delis, and bars.
- Wagestream for flexible access to earned pay.
- Cycle to Work scheme and season ticket loan.
- Genuine career development through study support, and clear progression as our estate grows.
- Recommend a Friend bonus scheme.
